Meet Dr. Avery, BCA’s New Head of School

BCA Welcomes a New Head of School.

07-21-2026

This summer, Bellevue Children’s Academy welcomed Dr. Christine Avery as our new Head of School. Since joining BCA at the beginning of July, Dr. Avery has hit the ground running - getting to know our staff, connecting with families, and learning more about the BCA community.

With 30 years of experience in education, Dr. Avery has served as a teacher, principal, and district leader. Most recently, she spent seven years as an Executive Director of Elementary Schools and Leadership Success, supporting 14 elementary schools and partnering with school leaders to strengthen school communities and support student achievement.

Throughout her career, Dr. Avery has helped schools build strong foundations for student success. She has supported the growth of more than 10 schools, celebrated three Principals of the Year, and worked alongside schools that earned recognition for student achievement in Washington State. While she is proud of these accomplishments, Dr. Avery is most passionate about creating learning environments where students are excited to come to school, challenged to reach their potential, and inspired to develop a lifelong love of learning.

“Great schools are built through strong relationships, excellent teaching, and meaningful partnerships with families,” Dr. Avery shares. “Educational leadership is both a privilege and a responsibility, and I am committed to supporting the students, staff, and families who make BCA such a special place.”

As she looks ahead to the 2026–27 school year, Dr. Avery is excited to continue building relationships and working alongside the BCA community. Her focus is on supporting a strong start to the school year and ensuring that students feel known, supported, and inspired as they begin another year of learning and growth.

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Avery to BCA and look forward to all that lies ahead for our students, staff, and families!
